Driving to work may seem convenient but it may not be the wisest move. Travel Plans can help your organisation to address some of the issues your staff face getting to work each day and Merseytravel's Smarter Choices Team will help you and your staff reach work more easily, by helping you to develop your own workplace travel plan. We can reduce the demand for parking, improve traffic congestion and road safety and help you access better public transport travel subsidies and discounts. In turn, the use of more sustainable modes of travel can improve the health of your staff, the image of your organisation, and reduce your carbon footprint.
We will work closely with you to understand your needs and look at all of the different options available to you, including:
There are numerous incentives available to organisations with adopted Travel Plans to encourage employees to use these sustainable travel options. These inlcude interest free loans and green travel to work schemes that permit savings on employee tax and national insurance contributions. Read on for more information on these government approved schemes.
To assist, we have produced a TravelWise Travel Plan Pack for use as a resource for those looking to develop and implement their own Travel Plan. It is a 'dip-in' resource, which is appropriate to all types of organisations - private sector companies, hospitals, colleges, residential developments, tourist/leisure sites and speculative/multi-occupied developments - just ‘dip-in' to access the sections as they are relevant or are of interest to your organisation. The information contained within the pack is intended to be used in conjunction with the travel plan guidance produced by the Department for Transport.
To further support organisations in their development and implementation of Travel Plans we have established the Employers Network. Signing up to the Network is free and gives you access to many benefits, including marketing and promotional resources to help you launch your Travel Plan, discounts at cycling stores across the area and access to our on-line staff travel survey, bespoke to your needs. Many prominent local organisations are already members - why not join them as outstanding travel planners ?
