In June 2008, Southport was announced as one of 11 UK Cycle Demonstration Towns. This means extra funding to create an environment for residents and visitors to cycle around. To find out more visit the website.

Merseyside Cycling Campaign is a voluntary organisation that campaigns for safe roads for cyclists, better cycling facilities and for the promotion of cycling as a natural part of city life on Merseyside. Bikes on trains

You can take your bike for free on trains in Merseyside, though it's sensible to keep in mind that trains can be busy in peak hours.
