There are always bike rides taking place in Merseyside, so you can easily find one that suits your needs. We try and list everyone's rides on our events page so check that out first. You can also visit Council websites for more on rides and cycling in those areas - SeftonKnowsley, St Helens and Liverpool.

For rides involving public transport please check the Merseytravel website alerts for any for any planned engineering works or disruptions in your area.

These rides take place in KnowsleyLiverpool, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral so click on your local area for more details. For Wirral rides contact Iain Lancaster by email or ring 07989 399 725

Women Only Rides

Wirral's Bicycle Belles started in 2010 and has gone from strength to strength. Newcomers are welcome to join the short friendly cycle rides which use the quieter parts of the Wirral and beyond. Rides take place on the third Saturday morning of each month starting at 10:00am in Port Sunlight in front of the Merseyrail station. There is always a café stop part way round. You even get a goody bag to encourage your cycling! Click here for more info and photos of the group.

Breeze is a scheme run by British Cycling to get more women riding bikes. There is a group set up in Wirral and you can read more about those rides here. They are looking for volunteers in Merseyside and you can find out more on the Breeze website.

Becoming a Bike Ride Leader

If you fancy being more involved in bike rides, there are many opportunities to become a trained bike ride leader. There are free courses linked to particular types of rides and you will normally be asked to lead a certain number of rides once you've had training and are comfortable with the route(s). Some of the Cycle for Health schemes above use volunteers so click on those links for more on leading short, health rides.
