Health and Environment

Transport offers us more than you might realise. It offers access to education, employment, health care, food sources, and leisure activities and visiting friends and family. The way we travel and use transport can have a major affect on our quality of life, health and environment both locally and globally.

The Merseyside Transport Partnership through the Local Transport Plan aim is to ensure a fully integrated, safe transport network which is operated to the highest standards to protect and enhance the environment, support a healthier community by addressing noise and air problems caused by traffic, promote cycling and walking and ensure quality of life. The Merseyside Transport Partnership carried out a Strategic Environmental Assessment and Health Impact Assessment, (SEA/HIA), as well as the ongoing delivery of other projects to address important Quality of Life Issues.
