Walking

Walking - the easiest form of exercise there is! If you're able, going for a walk can be anything you make it -

  • the perfect way to clear your head
  • a 10 minute power walk to get your heart beating and the feel good hormones kicking around your body
  • a leisurely wander around the shops or sites of local interest
  • a gentle stroll to hear the birds sing and to smell the roses (or just to buy a pint of milk)
  • the walk to school with your children
  • your main way of getting around or taking you to bus and train stops
  • a chance to catch up with friends and enjoy the outdoors
  • something you just do without thinking!

Whatever your reason and wherever you want to go, we hope these pages will help you. We have links to national walking campaigns and places where you can upload your own favourite walks. Our popular walking maps will tell you how many calories you burn as you're walking and are great for showing local places of interest.

If you fancy getting out with a group of like minded people, there are led walks taking place across Merseyside and we try to list them all, see the events link below. If you'd like to share your favourite walk you can map it on the Walk4Life website or if it's a led walk, let us know and we'll put it on our events list.
