A greener Merseyside thanks to TravelWise
A greener Merseyside thanks to
TravelWise the number of visitors
using public transport to get to a Merseyside attraction have
almost trebled in just 12 months. Knowsley's National Wildflower Centre recorded an
increase from 3% in 2006 to 8% in 2007.
It comes after the centre used a £10,000
cash injection from TravelWise to distribute booklets and maps
telling people how to get to the Victorian 35-acre facility at
Court Hey Park, Roby Road, in a more environmentally-friendly way.

Storer, marketing officer at the Wildflower Centre, said: "We
are absolutely delighted that TravelWise's generous funding has
resulted in more people choosing greener ways to get
here."
Neil Scales, chief executive of Merseytravel, said: "It's great news that this campaign is getting real results for the people of Merseyside. Climate change is an issue which has really come to the fore in recent years. The fact more visitors to the Wildflower Centre are now using public transport just shows how willing people are to do their bit to protect and safeguard the environment for future generations to enjoy."
